Once again in May 2018, we were at Sacrewell Water Mill for this event positioned just outside the main Visitor Centre entrance. The club HF station Kenwood TS 590SG plus PSU and external ATU fed a multi band offset wire dipole. The gazebo housed an IC7400 multi-mode base station, feeding the clubs white stick antenna with about 80 watts. The gazebo also contained publicity material. Set up completed, we were soon on the air with GB1SWM. As is normal, band conditions were poor on HF so the operators chopped and changed between 40 and 80 metres with lots of CQ calls. VHF was quieter but good contacts were made on FM, with no beams SSB was a nonstarter. 73 different contacts were made over the weekend, of which 47 were HF and 26 were VHF. 10 of the overall contacts were other Mills stations, 10 were other non-mills Special Event stations. The weather was better than forecast during the days but Saturday night produced prolonged, sometimes heavy, rain. However, Sunday afternoon was warm and sunny, allowing us to break down the station and pack away dry equipment. We would like to express our thanks to those who helped over the weekend, namely Tracey, Alan, Ron, Andy, John, Chip, Phil, Joe and Scott.
